20 December 2002

To all of our breeder friends:

Dornkaat has been gelded on 17.12.02 at 15.15 h.

Absolutely sad but most prudent thing to do under the circumstances. He produced millions of sperm, which sadly were for some reason unable to move.

So we are looking forward to turning our great hope into a beautiful sport horse.

It's not too bad - imagine I would have to write ..... was put down, now that would be tragic.

Merry Christmas to you all, from

Berny Maubach and Jutta Rosenblatt

6 December 2002

With great regret and very big disappointment Berny and Jutta must inform our potential breeders that our super hope DORNKAAT has been withdrawn as a stallion.

We are not sure at this early stage what is wrong, as he produces millions of sperm, however with very little motility.

For our own peace of mind, protection of our good name and protection of clients monies and efforts, we have decided to take the young fellow off the market as a stallion.

He will be most probably gelded in the near future and then be presented as a superb riding horse.

He has great movement in all gaits and he is a very potent athlete (he can jump a 1.5 m upright from standstill).

DRESSAGE NZ PRESS RELEASE
Pacific Group FEI World Dressage Challenge

The Children's section for 12 -14 yr olds leads Jessica Barwell (Hong Kong) riding the NZ bred horse Vollrath David with 66.6%. NZL has nominated only four children in it's squad - Jordanna Geor (Clevedon), Chloe Davidson (Whangarei), Anya Tovey & Brigette Learmonth (Kumeu). All four have consistently bettered 70% at recent national competitions and have a real chance of of winning the zone title.

Note from breeder Vollrath Stud:
Vollrath David is by the Distelfink colt "Vollrath Danzig" (exported to Japan) ex the Witzbold mare "Gretel" bred by Bob & Gaye Carroll.

November 2002

Two Hanoverian horses excelled in the dressage at the WEG, one being Brentina (Brentano II / Lungau), ridden by Debbie Mcdonald for the USA and the other Beauvalais (Bolero), ridden by Beatriz Ferrer Salat for Spain.

Both bloodlines of the above International Performance Horses are united in our stallion WORLDWIDE PB, whose dam is by BRENTANO II who was sired by BOLERO.

It is obvious that we at Vollrath are very proud to be able to provide such prolific bloodlines to discerning breeders in New Zealand.

October 2002

On 07.10.02 Akvavit (Anamour/Dynamit/Witzbold/Winnebago) gave birth to a strapping liver chestnut colt - by Worldwide of course! We are over the moon as they do not come better in the country of origin, Germany. We will be very reluctant letting any vet with a knife near him in a hurry.

July 2002

It has finally happened: Dornkaat is under saddle. He was wonderfully prepared by Jutta and it has paid dividends to let him mature without undue pressure and ambition to have him under saddle earlier. He will be four years come October and his attitude to work is already very mature. Look at some photos we took on 18.07.2002 on our Kai Iwi Beach.

It was Dornkaat's fourth time under saddle!

We consider ourselves very lucky to have bred such a wonderful horse, truly a chip off the old block - his super sire Dynamit.

Dressage Riders Win Trans-Tasman Challenge

Three young Auckland riders scored a convincing team win at the Australian National Young Rider Dressage Championships in Sydney from 11-14 July.

Anna Bramley (Tielcey Allrich) from Albany, Stephanie Tovey (Dominik T -- by Dynamit / Distelfink) from Huapai and Hanna Buckleigh (Shivas Regal) from Waimauku finished on a total of 81.5 against the Australian team on 63.5.

Tovey's consistency earned her a win and two second individual placings and although she was the best scoring Medium Grade rider at the event, Australian rules do not allow a rider from a foreign national federation to win an Australian title.

Stephanie Tovey: Medium 4B, 2nd/68.0%
Stephanie Tovey: Med/Adv Freestyle 1st /66.13% (2nd in Costume)
NZ Quadrille in Costume (Tovey, Buckleigh, Cunningham, Bramley) 2nd/81.50%
Stephanie Tovey: Medium 2nd/66.17% (Team test)
Trans Tasman Challenge: New Zealand 1st 81.5pts, Australia 2nd 63
