Vollrath Lessing

Black Hanoverian Stallion - DE 431317001-003; * 06.02.2003; 175cm / 17.1hh;
by Londonderry (Laurie's Crusador xx / Warkant / Eiger I) / Prince Thatch xx / Aircraft / Imperator AN)

Lessing has been crowned the 2008 National Champion of Champions Young Dressage Horse for 2008.

The Judges were from Australia (Maria Schwennesen), Canada's FEI international "O" Judge Kara Whitham.

During Ricky's test ride Canadian judge Cara Whitham used the following keywords about Lessing:

  • beautifully naturally balanced
  • breathtaking
  • horse of a quality to go to the World Breeding Championship
  • like a metronome in his rhythm and balance with incredible work ethic
  • a true quality horse
  • and that we better should 'padlock his stall' tonight!

At the HoY 2008 Vollrath Lessing won his class 508 (Stallion for breeding performance bred horses) and was also crowned "Reserve Champion" of the 4 yr old and over Performance bred led sport horses.

This was the only entry for Lessing at the HoY with the purpose to expose him to the 'atmosphere' of such a great show.

He had was totally "cool" and very responsive to Jutta's commands = simply perfectly behaved!

Jutta and Lessing having fun on the race track in Wanganui.

Lessing's early jumping lessons. He looks very promising and is truly 'forward'! It seems that his grand sire LAURIE'S CRUSADOR xx, who topped the list of the eventing sires, left an indelible mark in Lessing.

... a training session on 24-10-07 ...

Training session with Jutta on 14 July 2007.

Jutta is having fun with Lessing on 08-02-2007 and 12-02-2007.

June 2006 - Vollrath Lessing - pictured here at his sixth time in the open under saddle. He is just so awesome; Jutta says:
• he feels so safe and is
• incredibly light on the contact,
• unflappable in his temperament, has
• super self-carriage and fantastic forward movement in all gaits.
Lessing is just 3 years and 3 months old, the best, most promising horse she has ever started.

Education of young stallions happens on the beach as well ...

The 2004 Adelheidsdorf Stallion Performance test had 33 young stallions competing for the placings:
  • Londonderry was represented by five colts and he produced the winner in Liberty Gold out of a Weltmeyer mare with a score of 140,93; 3rd was Locksley also out of a Weltmeyer mare with a score of 123,29; 9th was Lauscher and 17th was Lesieux; both have Weltmeyer blood in the dam line; and 20th was Lacruso by Dakar ex an Argentan mare.
  • Five 30 months old LONDONDERRY colts passed (three of them with a premium) the Stallion Licensing in Verden in October. Again Weltmeyer blood on the damline was prominent.
  • The 2004 German Federal Championship for riding horses was won by the 3 yr old filly La Perla by Londonderry/Weltmeyer. In the 4 yr old class the mare Liaison by Londonderry/Gralswaechter was Vice Champion.
  • This shows that the blood combination of LONDONDERRY - WELTMEYER produces equine athletes. At Vollrath we are quite confident that the next generation of LESSING over WORLDWIDE mares will give us equally potent sporthorses.
