August 2, 2010 LESSING ON TOP (by Jutta Rosenblatt)
Lessing's success at Medium Level culminating in winning Reserve Champion titles at the Nationals and HOY 2010 respectively was one fabulous achievement. Success at HOY in particular was very rewarding as Lessing coped remarkably well in an atmosphere that can upset even seasoned campaigners including Grand Prix horses. But most exciting for us is that Lessing's oldest progeny are now under saddle and providing us with solely positive feedback from respective trainers and owners. What a reward for a breeder to ride the offspring and hear all the enthusiastic accounts! Our own Lauretta (Lessing/Dynamit/Genius) proved as easy to break in as her sire. She is going to be a powerhouse with great aptitude for the canter work, in particular flying changes, and I'm planning on a long and illustrious career for her, starting with presenting her in the 4yr old Young Dressage horse class at Nationals 2011. Sharleene Story from Morrinsville had to get on the phone to us straight away after cantering her big black gelding Live! by (Lessing/Anamour/Dynamit/Witzbold/Winnebago) for the first time: "What an amazing canter he has!" an excited Sharleene reported, "He is wonderful to work with and very easy to break in!"

From out of nowhere Lessing under his trainer / rider Jutta Rosenblatt entered the competition arena at Level 4 in 2010:
All test were in the high 60 - early 70% and there was never much between the Champion and the Reserve. Jutta was extremely pleased with Lessing's 'consistency' and in particular the way he took the "HoY atmosphere" in his stride, hence we are very confident at Vollrath the next season will give us the next step 'up' on the ladder!
Jutta has just started Lessing's first 3yr old - and Lauretta is showing all that she promised as a weanling. Her movement is powerful yet elegant with tons of suspension and forward movement superbly enhanced with a calm temperament and willingness to work. So Berny seems to be correct with his assessment that Lessing would be the ideal stallion to cover Vollrath mares!
March 26, 2010 On March 21, Manfred Lopp, retired Hauptsattelmeister of the Celle National State Stud, died at the age of 80. Manfred Lopp was born on June 19, 1929. He started to work for the Lower Saxonian National State Stud Celle in 1946. In 1955, he completed his exam as certified riding instructor and in 1958/1959, he continued with a four-month further education at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. From 1965 until his retirement in 1994, he was the head of the stallion performance testing station in Adelheidsdorf. He contributed considerably to improving and enhancing the importance of stallion performance tests in the German sport horse breed. In recognition of his excellent accomplishments for the Lower Saxonian horse breed and for the Celle National State Stud, he was honoured with the Lower Saxonian Order of Merit in 1992. Following his retirement, Manfred Lopp contributed his sound expert knowledge to lots of examining boards, judges' commissions and to Hannoveraner Verband. He was a fantastic ambassador of the Hanoverian horse in many different countries all over the world. Hanoverian breeders all over the world grieve for an outstanding horse expert who was not only popular and admired because of his expert knowledge, but also because of his straightness, combined with modesty and humanity. Manfred Lopp leaves behind two daughters and four grandchildren.

Our first Lessing progeny to be started under saddle is Lauretta, a three-year-old from Dyncast. Jutta says she is the easiest horse she has ever started. Lauretta's temperament is very solid, and she is showing great forward movement and elasticity in all gaits. Her trot is absolutely outstanding.
January 26, 2010 Our mare Polly Rainbow (Porter Rhodes xx / Jaguar) was sold in foal to LESSING, to Kirsty and Mark Moffat. The result is a bay colt, Leonidas. Kirsty sent an e-mail on 14 Jan 2010, and said:
"... of all of the foals we have bred to date - he has the most laid-back nature. I can put a halter on him in the paddock, and pick up all of his feet, and he learnt to lead very quickly. "Read more

Former NZ hanoverian stallion approved 'worldwide'
May 1, 2009 The hanoverian stallion Worldwide, who stood in New Zealand for several years before being sold across the Tasman, has been approved as a breeding stallion by the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia. Worldwide joins an exclusive group of stallions in Australia to be approved as hanoverian breeding horses - there are just eight others. In New Zealand, only four stallions are approved. Now, progeny by Worldwide from registered mares can be "H" (hanoverian) branded. He has a full license with the Verband's stallion book in Germany, which means frozen semen can be sent all over the world. Worldwide was bought from Germany as a young horse from Werner Heitgress by Wanganui breeder Berny Maubach. Worldwide was used extensively as a stallion for Maubach, and he crossed particularly well with his Dynamit and Genius mares. The liver chestnut stallion has a notable pedigree, being by the Weltmeyer stallion Weltbuerger, from the Brentano II mare Bella. Worldwide had an impressive ridden career with Maubach's wife, Jutta Rosenblatt. The pair won the NZ National Novice Championship and Medium Horse of the Year title, and competed to the level of Prix St George, scoring well above 55%. But with the need to bring in new bloodlines to Vollrath Stud, Maubach sold Worldwide to Australian rider Claire Seidl-Wickens in 2006. The registrar for the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia, Rachel Whiting, said Worldwide's approval was good news for breeders. "(He) is another stallion with different bloodlines that can be used here in Australia with fresh and chilled semen. "It brings the registered, Licensed and Performance Tested Hanoverian Stallions in Australia up to 9 as Worldwide joins an influential and talented group of imported Hanoverian stallions consisting of Jaybee Alabaster, Cannavaro, Ferrero Rocher, Fishermans Friend, Lauries As, Prince Noir, Riverside and Whisper. "He recently obtained his Performance through the sport of dressage under rider and owner Claire Seidl. Stallions obtaining their performance requirement in this way must place 1st to 3rd in five Official Prix St George competitions obtaining marks of over 55%," she said. On May 7 at the Sydney CDI three-star competition Worldwide again performed consistently, winning the Prix St Georges class, with a percentage of 65.175 and the Advanced Freestyle with 68.417%. He also placed fifth in the Advanced 5.3 with 64.065%, and sixth in the Advanced 5.4 with 63.810%. Worldwide was provisionally licensed in December 1996, and ranked 16/40 for rideability in his 100-day performance test in Adelheidsdorf. He did not reach the necessary 90 points for registration with the New Zealand Hanoverian Society due to his jumping under saddle. "My feeling for this young un-named stallion in 1996 and my consequent stubbornness to resist and not submit to the Verband's decree -"you can't have him as he failed his performance test"; in my book under dubious circumstances - has paid off," said Maubach. "It was an absolute commercial decision to sell Worldwide as he had given us many young fillies to breed on. Our luck of course was that we found Claire Seidl-Wickens in Australia as a buyer and an extremely able rider/competitor. We are just so thrilled and wish Claire with 'our' Worldwide a most successful future," he said. Vollrath has two younger stallions. "Left at Vollrath now is the similar task to achieve with our Lessing, who certainly did not fail anything, the same: To have him registered via his own performance as a dressage horse. Jutta and I have no doubt whatsoever that this will be achieved," Maubach said.
April, 2009 It's the time of year to report briefly what happened at Vollrath in '08: The August storms killed our beautiful six yr old gelding Winnetou (Worldwide/Dynamit/Genius). He somehow got into the flooded Kai Iwi stream, was washed against a fallen tree which trapped him and .... he miserably drowned. The same night our Polly Rainbow (Porter Rhodes xx / Jaguar) slipped her foal being nine months pregnant. But with the winter gone and the warm weather the mares for Lessing arrived. His achievements with my wife Jutta made him attractive to breeders - he served 34 mares, a good book in my opinion, considering all the 'stallions' standing in NZ and on top of that - the frozen semen. Lessing certainly stamps his foals, all have beautiful confirmation, are long legged, paired with spectacular movement and a very 'forward' nature. There are a good number of photos on our web page. All our breeder friends report enthusiastically about their Lessing foals. And we will not keep it a secret that we love these comments!! Our Lessing was not competed this season, as Jutta wants to train him at home, while he was serving mares. Just wait till next spring, we are sure, Lessing will come out with a "bang". He has just made the most awesome progression with Jutta. So all in all: it was a pretty good 2008.
March, 2009 Our gorgeous puppies have all sold and gone to new homes.

![]() Jutta with our yearlings left to right: World - La Paloma - Weltweit - Latimer. Weltweit and Latimer, who promise to be eventing - SJ horses, are for sale!
September 24, 2008 Our 2007 crop is now just about a year old and we are more than pleased with their development. It is so nice to have still two Worldwide P.B. foals on the ground.
The gelding Weltweit convinced us at weaning time that he will be a capable showjumper, because he jumped twice over a 5 foot partition in the box without having a mark on him. This little beauty is owned by Sarah Neilson of Waverley. The filly World is precious to us as she can go either to Fürst Patrick in future or Lessing, whose filly La Paloma is destined to go to our new colt. Lessing's Latimer is a very special boy ... he has the most beautiful ground covering canter and brilliant general movement, we think he will be very suitable for eventing. Just a few more weeks to go and the 2008 foals will be here - exciting times again.
August 4, 2008 Award for Lessing Vollrath Lessing has received from The New Zealand Hanoverian Society (Inc.) the annual award "For exceptional Performance - Imported Hanoverian"
